AUTOMATIC AVOCADO IRRIGATION SOLUTION
Frequency and Volume:
As mentioned above: the amount of water used for avocado is about 45 liters/day in spring, 136 to 220 liters/day in summer and 121 liters/day in autumn.
Farmers can water avocado 2-3 times a day with a total volume rate not exceeding the water needs of the tree. However, farmers should note that dividing into too many watering times can encourage the development of shallow roots, making the tree less drought-resistant, especially in places with strong winds.
On the other hand, watering too much at one time can cause root rot, causing nutrients to overflow.
Depending on each climate zone, we determine the watering cycle for avocado trees, with hot climate zones, the watering cycle repeats in the summer is about 7 days/watering.
BENEFITS OF AUTOMATIC AVOCADO IRRIGATION
- Avocado trees have large, soft leaves that transpire a lot of water in warm weather, so they require frequent irrigation. The most critical periods are during flowering and fruit setting. In these growth stages, farmers should irrigate when rainfall is insufficient to minimize fruit drop and increase fruit size.
- Ensures the tree is consistently watered with the right amount, keeping it healthy and vigorous
- Conserves water by delivering precise quantities
- Easily expandable as trees grow, by adjusting the sprinkler radius or adding more emitters
- Supports fertigation—applying fertilizers through the irrigation system
- Greatly reduces labor requirements
- Uses durable components such as LDPE pipes and Rivulis sprinklers, which can last for decades
- Avocado trees are sensitive to high iron levels (above 1 mg/L) in water, making groundwater unsuitable in many areas—an automatic irrigation system helps overcome this challenge
