MELON IRRIGATION SOLUTIONS
With melon growing greenhouse, there is only one suitable irrigation method that brings high economic efficiency: Drip irrigation. However, because melon is commonly grown in two forms: grown in bags of growing medium and growing on soil beds.
Therefore, two forms of Melon irrigation shall be applied: Irrigation with a drip stick combined with a pressure-compensated (PC) none-drain (ND) dripper, and Irrigation with PC dripline spread along the bed.
Important note: Apply PC ND Dripper (Pressure compensated None drain) and High frequency irrigation techniques, Pulse drip irrigation.
THE BENEFIT OF DRIP IRRIGATION FOR MELONS
- Melons require high nutritional factors: Fertilizing through an irrigation system is the most effective way to provide nutrients for melons.
- Melons are commonly grown on coco peat substrates and/or sandy soil: need to be watered many times a day with low water flow (pulse irrigation method). Only drip irrigation meets this need.
- Melons need to be harvested evenly, the care regimen, water flow, and nutrients applied to each plant are 100% the same.
We can say that we cannot growing the melons in greenhouse without automatic irrigation systems if we would like to have high quality of crop, increasing the yield, and increasing the total income.
